Lockie Leonard: Human Torpedo

Lockie Leonard is an adored Australian classic written by Tim Winton in the early 90s, before having a play adaptation written, and finally having the ABC Kids TV adaptation made that has firmly cemented Lockie in the cultural fabric of Australia.

Lockie Leonard, the human torpedo, has arrived in town. He gives teachers a tough time, and surfs like there is no tomorrow, but no-one wants to know the city boy whose dad’s the new cop.

Things change when he becomes the president of the new surfer’s club and starts going out with Vicki Streeton, the girl of his dreams. But the course of true love is not inclined to run smoothly. Sun, surf, adolescence, romance, lots of laughs, intelligent writing and a unique fresh central character are what make Lockie Leonard so special.
